Forestry: Then and Now

Gary Blanchard, Senior Forester for Starker Forests, Inc., gave an after-dark PowerPoint presentation, comparing forestry, logging, and sawmilling in Benton County during pioneer times and the early 1900s, with those same practices today. Blanchard gave this presentation in back of the old Clemens sawmill, Philomath, Oregon, on July 14, 2004. His presentation was part of a summer-long series titled, "Science, Music, and Marshmallows."
