Bald Mountain Lookout
West View, Bald Mountain Lookout, Polk County ("S.L.M.," June 30, 1936).
The Bald Mountain Fire Lookout was first established by the Cobbs & Mitchell Lumber Co. in 1913 with construction of a telephone line; an airplane landing strip was installed in 1920. In 1932 a tower was constructed at Tsp. 9 S., Rng. 7 W., Sec. 9, elevation 3,232 feet. The Lookout was removed in 1969. Kemnow Online History.
