Tsp. 29 S., Rng. 1 E. was surveyed via several contracts, beginning in 1902 (Mensch 1910). Here are the typed Original Land Survey Notes.
This township is located in the Upper South Umpqua Headwaters Precontact Reference Study and contains portions of four of the study's subbasins: Quartz Creek, Boulder Creek, Buckeye Creek, and Jackson Creek.
It contains four of the study's Areas of Special Interest: South Umpqua Falls, Alder Flats, Ash Valley, and Acker Ranch, and two Fire Lookouts: Acker Rock and Coyote Point.
